I went to a beef bowl chain restaurant yesterday and was surprised to see the clientele in the restaurant.

The customers were all middle-aged men, but they looked uncomfortable and were eating their cheap beef bowls with displeasure.

Why are there so many single, poor, middle-aged men in Japan, when the country's GDP is the third largest in the world?

They must have had dreams and hopes when they were children, so why are they eating alone and lonely at a beef bowl chain?
